Known all over the world, Avignon cité des Papes, buried like a jewel in its ramparts, always suprises its visitors, Le Petit Louvre is set in this history rich with many events. Built in 1273, its chapel was occupied by the Knights Templar until 1308, when Charles II, influenced by his cousin Philippe Le Bel, requisitioned all the belongs of the Order.

On 2 May 1312, the Commandery was donated to the Hospitaliers of Saint Jean who took care of it until the French Revolution. Sold as a national property on 17th September 1792 after many modifications, it was transformed into a hotel in the 19th century. The chapel is all that remains of the last vestige of the old Templar Commanderie, transformed, whilst respecting its architecture, into a theatre, convention and seminar rooms. Events organised in this venue are part of its prestige.
